What is CBD and what's all the hype about?

Updated: Mar 13

CBD stands for cannabidiol. It’s a cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant (just like THC — the more commonly known cannabinoid that get’s your high).

CBD, however, is non-intoxicating, non-psychoactive and has virtually no side effects. CBD has been known to reduce anxiety and stress, promote sleep, and reduce pain and inflammation.

Used topically, it has been known to help treat eczema, acne, and psoriasis among other skin ailments.

While CBD may seem like the latest “miracle” trend, it has actually been used therapeutically since the 1960’s (and most likely even earlier!). In 1980, a breakthrough study by Israeli chemist Raphael Mechoulam showed cannabidiol could be a key factor in treating epilepsy.

Fast forward to June 2018, when the US Food & Drug Administration approved an orally administered cannabidiol treatment (Epidiolex) for two rare forms of childhood epilepsy.

All that’s to say that CBD has been around for some time and we’re excited and optimistic for the future of hemp.

How can you use it?

It can be consumed as an edible, used as an ingredient in food or drinks, and applied topically or sensually. Most of our customers ingest ELO Los Angeles CBD regularly, with 1-2 doses/day depending on their preferred potency.

Will CBD make you "high"?

No. ELO Los Angeles CBD contains less than 0.3% THC (extremely trace amounts). It has no effect and will not get you stoned.
